Wes Edens and his company, New Fortress Energy, have recently signed two long term deals that will develop liquefied natural gas. This new deal will become an essential part of providing a steady supply of gas and electricity for many countries throughout the world. By finalizing this deal, Wes Edens, CEO of New Fortress Energy, is now in a position to grow his company and reach one of his goals of improving the environment. 

The recent LNG deals will begin supplying Wes Edens’ New Fortress Energy with LNG so that it can be converted into natural gas along with electric power at the same time. With the new LNG conversion, New Fortress Energy will provide power for units in Mexico, Nicaragua and Puerto Rico. These recent purchases and other purchases in the past of LNG were made for the company’s operations based in Jamaica. In recent years, New Fortress Energy and Wes Edens purchased 80% of the expected LNG volumes for its portfolio of assets and terminals. 

In a recent statement, Wes Edens said the goal of the company is to match LNG purchases as much as it possibly can in order to meet the needs of its customers. This amount of purchases will reduce the amount of exposure to changes in the price for LNG within the company’s portfolio. According to Edens, about 70% of the company’s gas contracts with customers are currently indexed to Henry Hub. With the number of new contracts, New Fortress Energy will be able to match the volumes of its commitments to Hub. 

In 2019, New Fortress Energy announced that it agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding with international officials. It completed a deal with the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Petroleum, the Ministry of Energy and Water, and the Ministry of Finance for the LNG terminal. With this agreement, the new facility will begin supplying natural gas in order to generate power throughout the nation. Under the leadership of energy investor Wes Edens, New Fortress Energy will move into the new year with several promising ventures.
