Dickey’s Barque Pit is a large franchise consisting of over 500 locations across the U.S and is currently working on opening international locations. The company is a subsidiary of the parent company Dickey’s Capital Group. Everything under Dickey’s brand is managed by Dickey’s Capital Group including retail merchandise, real estate and manufacturers.

Dickey’s began more humbly. The company was founded by Travis Dickey in 1941. The first location opened in Dallas, Texas and is still open to this day. Originally the menu for Dickey’s started simply with only several items listed. The restaurant was run by Travis and his wife Ollie, who had two sons who helped run the restaurant.

It was only once Travis’s son were adults that the restaurant began to open multiple locations. Once the restaurant was able to successful franchise its brand, new locations were opened outside of Texas for the first time. It is thanks to Roland Dickey Jr that Dickey’s barque pit was able to open over 500 location across the U.S.

He became the Chief Executive officer of the company in 2006. The recession of 2008 was a devastating event for many restaurants, but Ronald Dickey used the recession to expand the company by taking advantage of the cheap real estate that was available. The company push to invest in logistic, information technology and real estate management. The push to invest in the company paid off. Dickey’s barque pit became one of the largest bbq restaurants in the U.S.

Ronald Dicky, Jr earned his bachelor degree in business administration in 1996. After graduating, he earned experience working at various companies in the restaurant industry.
