A sports enthusiast and leader, Robert Kraft, recently announced his plans with other executive officials to bring the 2026 World Cup to a new location known as Gillette Stadium. Gillette Stadium is, however, not an entirely new stadium since it was created and developed more than 20 years ago. Having successfully controlled the 1994 World Cup games at Foxboro Stadium, Mr. Kraft intends on doing the same for the 2026 World Cup games at Gillette Stadium.
Robert Kraft’s plans have been backed up by other executive FIFA officials such as Victor Montagliani and Brian Bilello, the current president of the Revolution. After taking a tour of the Gillette Stadium, Mr. Kraft and his fellow FIFA officials suggested reviving the stadium back to its good state by eliminating the current synthetic surface and replacing it with natural turf. This will be possible by improving the dormant irrigation system.
In addition, the official sources, including Robert Kraft, stated that the sideline seating would be eliminated to fit and satisfy the expected field require requirements. Mr. Kraft also anticipates six matches being held at Gillette Stadium, similar to the 1994 World Cup games. Gillette Stadium is considered among the top 17 most famous stadiums in the US.
With Mr. Kraft being the honorary chair of the 2026 World Cup, he intends to ensure that at least six out of 80 games will be played at the Gillette Stadium. In addition, the 2026 World Cup games will take place in only three countries globally including, the US, Mexico, and Canada. See this page for additional information.
