Michael Goguen spent more than three decades dominating the business world as one of Silicon Valley’s most noted and successful venture capitalists.
However, over the past several years, the industry giant has made a significant mark on his new home, the State of Montana.
Goguen, who resides in Whitefish, has quickly become one of the state’s leading philanthropists, donating large sums of money and time to countless charitable and community endeavors.

Additionally, he has committed himself to aiding other business minded individuals pursue their dreams of conquering the world of entrepreneurship. The following is a brief summary of merely a handful of the benevolent acts Goguen has performed:
Donation To Code Girls United
In March of 2019, Goguen donated $50,000 to this Montana-based organization that teaches young girls, typically of elementary and junior high school age, computer coding.
Coding is pertinent to the development of the computer applications, or apps individuals utilize on an everyday basis.
Goguen is committed to piquing young persons, especially girls, interests in the STEM subjects of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
The Growth Of Two Bear Air
Much of Montana’s landscape is rugged and can prove difficult for emergency services personnel to execute responses when necessary. Goguen recognized this fact and, in response, purchased a Bell 429 helicopter and started a rescue unit named Two Bear Air.
To this day, Goguen funds all aspects of this operation and the unit has been responsible for executing countless rescues and locating numerous people feared lost in northern Montana’s vast wilderness.
Protecting Children From Predators
A donation made by Goguen in 2014 helped State officials execute an important sting that nabbed seven child predators in 2016.
The operation was run by the Kalispell Office of Homeland Security. This agency’s Internet Crimes Against Children’s Task Force, sometimes abbreviated as ICAC, caught the accused by posing as adults seeking to lure children into illicit sexual relationships.

The Creation Of A New Food Bank
In July of 2013, Goguen donated $500,000 to the North Valley Food Bank.
This effort helped the organization reach the $1.5 million fundraising goal representatives established, which was needed to complete a new building that will be used to donate food to area child and adults in need.
