Desiree Perez was announced as the CEO of Roc Nation in 2019 by famous hip hop recording artist JAY-Z. While operating previously at the COO of Roc Nation, Desiree Perez has been working with the company since its inception. Her recent appointment as CEO was effective immediately and she has since began overseeing any and all leading developing elements of the company that include management, publishing, music, philanthropy, and TV and film.
She begins her stint as CEO of Roc Nation following the company’s previous CEO Jay Brown, who has since been appointed as Vice Chairman. This news arrives just after one day since Desiree Perez was named Executive of the Year at Billboard’s 2019 Women in Music award ceremony. She was introduced to the stage by Jay, who called the woman “a true humanitarian” and “fearless.” Perez remarks that she would not be where she stood at today because of the foundation she encountered at Roc Nation.
In the midst of her acceptance speech, Perez absolutely made certain to praise her colleagues at Roc Nation and brought to light how enormously JAY-Z impacted her career and her life. She listed thank you mentions to her family, Rihanna, Meek Mill, Uzi, Gottie, Joe, and a cavalcade of entertainment icons and people that remain important. In addition to all of this, she expressed her love to co-founder and president of A&R “Ty Ty” Smith, and to her husband Juan Perez. Juan Perez is currently the head of Roc Nation Sports.
