John Sauter, Real Estate Investment Genius

John Sauter is the President and pioneer of Tower 14. The investment firm that is located in Los Angeles is focused on real estate investment. Tower 14 committed $60 million in August 2019 to purchase an interest in the operating platform and real assets of Middle Street Partners.

Before working at Tower 14, John Sauter was a Principal and Senior Managing Director at CBRE Investors. Mr. Sauter managed $2 billion of investment transactions while at the firm. He was also crucial in raising almost $2.6 billion of equity for its separate accounts and funds.

Before CBRE John Sauter was working at MSD Investments as a partner. The real estate investment firm was an associate of MSD Capital. While at MSD, he accomplished 22 separate private and public transactions involving stock, debt and properties valued at more than $5 billion and almost an equity of $1 billion.

Before MSD, John Sauter was at Starwood Capital as Acquisitions Vice President and at Troon Golf, a Goldman Sachs and Starwood joint venture, as the President. John worked on private equity, hospitality and land-related transactions valued at more than $300 million for Starwood Funds V, IV and II as well as its Mezzanine Investors. While at Troon, John Sauter helped the company grow EBITDA almost 20 times and took responsibility for the company’s operations and offices opening in Japan, Australia and the UK.

Prior to Starwood, Mr. Sauter was at Investec as a partner. Investec was a development and real estate investment firm based in Santa Barbra. While at the firm, he helped with the acquisition and development of around $400 million of single-family, retail, office and multi-family home projects. He began his career at LaSalle Partners in Los Angeles and Chicago as a financial analyst. John Sauter also works at as a senior advisor at Dune Real Estate.
