Peter Briger lives in San Francisco and currently serves at the investment company Fortess Investment Group as Co-Chief Executive Officer. Fortress is a highly-recognized worldwide investment management company based in New York City. Fortress Investment Group is highly diversified, with about 1,900 institutional private and institutional clients. Under Briger’s co-leadership, Fortress Investment Group is now an investment management company managing more than $65 billion in assets.
Briger joined Fortress Investment Group in 2002 and worked his way to be the on the Board of Directors as Co-Chairman. Briger’s main duties for Fortress include the co-head of the company’s credit fund and real estate business divisions. Also, Briger was the driving force behind Fortress Investment Group going public.
He started his career by attention Princeton University. Here he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree. Briger went on to earn his Master of Business Administration from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business.
In 1996, Goldman Sachs made Briger, a partner, and for fifteen years, he was influential on many committees. Committees Peter Briger served on included the Japan Executive Committee, Global Control, Compliance Committee, and the Asian Management Committee. At Goldman Sachs, Briger was the vice-chairman of the Fixed Income Principal Investments Group, vice chairman the Division of Trading and Whole Sales, and vice-chairman of the Distressed Businesses for the Asian Group.
Peter Briger is the ultimate philanthropist, and when he is not working hard at Fortress Investment Group, Briger is involved in many charitable and community-based causes. He is on the Board of Tipping Point, Caliber School, and Grace Science Foundations. He is also part of the Board of Administrators for the San Francisco Foundation (University of California), he Briger is an advisor for New American Security.
Briger also helped establish the Peninsula Arts Guild Board. Briger enjoys soccer and takes time to be on the U.S. Soccer’s investment committee. Additionally, Peter Briger belongs to the Foreign Relations Council.
