Tom Chang MD built up Acuity Eye Group over 10 years ago as a one practice location. It now has over 60 locations, never neglecting the priority of putting patients first. Chang sees his successful career in medicine as truly a privilege. He fell in love with ophthalmology instantly when he began to study it. He loved the beautiful colors of the eye, the rapid recovery of surgeries, and the exclusivity of diagnoses. The most difficult part of the job for Tom Chang MD is not having solutions to every answer. This has given him a desire to push towards finding treatment for every problem he encounters in his office though. This helped him to realize that he truly had a passion for helping people instead of teaching. In patient care, Chang wants to provide excellence throughout the whole process. He also wants to ensure that every patient has an excellent experience throughout their visit. This has not changed no matter how large Acuity Eye Group has gotten. He wanted only doctors who cared for and respected patients with only the best care possible. Patient care will always be the top priority, even with the technological advancements that are sure to come in the future.

Chang believes that doctors will always have the final word. Technology will just be there to help in diagnosing. People are the heart of everything that is done at the business. Caring about patients is truly what Tom Chang MD believes that the medical field is all about. He believes that it is a matter of respect, which the world needs more of. Without respect, there are no treatments and there is no trust between the doctor and patient. Other than loving his career in medicine, Dr. Tom Chang does have fun outside of work. He loves to ski and loves to play the guitar. Music helps him to focus and distress as he sits in that single moment with his guitar. He attributes his impressive success and his humility to his mentor that was with him when he worked in Miami. That individual is J. Donald Glass who was Chang’s clinical fellow.
