Sujit Choudhry is a top-notch and renowned expert in the Canadian constitution. Besides being a constitutional expert, he is an educator and writer. Sujit is recognized both nationally and internationally for the role played as a comparative constitutional lawyer. He has guided and advised several states on governance, the rule of law, and constitution building for more than twenty years. Some of the countries that have benefited from this include Egypt, Nepal, Ukraine, and Tunisia. Also, Jordan, Libya, Myanmar, and Sir Lanka have been helped by Sujit Choudhry in governance and constitutional law matters.
Choudhry has worked in several fields, but he is an expert in advocating for multi-party dialogues, facilitation of public sessions meetings with the stakeholders and civil society groups, leads consultations concerning stakeholders, and performs complex advisory tasks with technical experts. He also offers training sessions to civil servants and bureaucrats, involves party heads and parliamentarians, and coming up with complicated reports and memoranda.
As a writer, Sujit drafted several books. Some of the books include The Migration of Constitutional Ideas, Indian Constitution, and Dilemmas of Solidarity, to name a few. In one of his books, he states that comparative constitutional law has focused on the “revolution of rights.”
Sujit Choudhry was borne in 1970 in New Delhi in India. He is a lawyer, educator, and author by profession. He attended McGill University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science, Oxford University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, the University of Toronto where he earned a law degree, and Harvard Law School, which earned him a Masters in Law.
Sujit has been active in a career since 1996 to date. He has earned the Rhodes Scholarship award, Cecelia Goetz Professorship, William Taylor Memorial, and Frank Knox Memorial Fellowship.
