OSI Food Solutions, a $6 billion international meat processor out of Germany, claims that it can process any meat product with “Pure hygiene,” And they have the technology to back it up. Their plant in Günzburg, Germany uses the latest and most innovative production facility to patty over 5.5 million burgers a day for McDonald’s restaurants in that nation. OSI continually explores new ways and solutions to make its processes more efficient. One technology OSI Food Solutions has used since 2007, is Hygienic Design, a process designed from beginning to end to ensure food safety from Rittal that uses enclosures to ensure sanitation. The system uses enclosures that are compact and dependable to protect sensitive devices and equipment from water, cleaning agents, and other materials used in the sanitation process. It does this while at the same time protecting against microorganisms and cross-contamination. With over 65 production facilities in 17 nations, OSI Food Solutions produces no brand name of its own. OSI supplies a manufacturing service to its considerable number of clients. In a facility that uses open processes, where food such as fresh fish, fish, and dairy are processed in unsealed and unpacked states, these enclosures work extremely well…” OSI Food Solutions Technology boss Thomas Schnitzler remembers seeing the first hygienic design compact enclosures in 2007 at Hannover Messe. “Even the first HD ….and inspired us to start some practical tests,” he says. He took the idea and implemented them at once into OSI food safety protocols. The results showed that these enclosures were excellent at cleaning and were leak-tight. Schnitzler remarked also
A client of note is McDonald’s, which selected OSI to be their leading supplier of fresh ground beef in 1995. When Burger King was planning to introduce the Impossible Burger to the market, the company looked to OSI. This endeavor will be OSI’s initial entry into a meatless product. OSI President and C.O.O David McDonald says as much, “Expanding into alternative proteins is an addition to our company’s product offering, not a replacement.”
Based on the recent media surrounding the Impossible Burger, OSI Food Solutions has done and will continue to do great business, and patty a great burger. More information can be found at: https://de.osigroup.com/
